With its origins in the early days of World War II, Patrol Squadron was commissioned in August 1976 at Selfridge Air National Guard Base, Michigan, flying the mighty Lockheed P-3 Orion. Known as the “Executioners,” they continued proud service of the United States Navy, adding many records to squadron history and participating in operations around the world.
Completing over 43,540 mishap-free flight hours – including Soviet sub tracking, North Pole/Arctic Circle ‘ICEX’ ops, South American ‘UNITAS’ ops, Caribbean “War On Drugs” ops, Yugoslav Republics and Haitian embargo missions; and earning the 1978 and 1993 CNO ‘safety award’, 1992 ‘Top Bloodhound’ award for ASW torpedo accuracy, and 1993 ‘Mining Derby’ Champions. The LH.02 P-3B MOD Orion and its fellow Patrol Squadron 93 “Executioners” embody the can-do attitude, “ready to execute … anytime, anywhere!”
