Access to the Museum

The Selfridge Military Air Museum is located on a secure military installation. For security reasons, all individuals without a U.S. Government ID card, Common Access Card (CAC), or Defense Biometric Identification System (DBIDS) card are required to have a mandatory security background check performed AND register their vehicle for a Visitorís Pass before they will be allowed access to the Base and the Museum. A current and valid U.S. driverís license, current vehicle registration, and proof of vehicular insurance must be presented to Security personnel to fulfill these mandatory requirements. When you arrive at the Main Gate, Security personnel will advise you of where (Visitors Center or Main Gate) these processes will be performed. Foreign nationals (citizens of another country, both adults and children) that do not have these documents require approximately 30 days advance notice to the Museumís Executive Director for coordination.Information on specific requirements and procedures can be obtained by contacting the Museumís Executive Director at 586-239-6768 or by emailing info@selfridgeairmuseum.org.

The Selfridge Military Air Museum and the Michigan Air Guard Historical Association receive no Federal or State funding. They are totally dependent on contributions, membership dues, and a small gift shop for operating capital. Most of our sources of revenue are tax-deductible.

Volunteers Needed

The Selfridge Military Air Museum is looking for a 'few good men & women' to serve as docents in the Gift Shop, SPAD Hangar, Flight Training Room, or as an Inside/Outside Floater on our OPEN weekends from April thru October.

The museum is also in need of volunteers that can serve on regularly scheduled "work days", i.e., Tuesday and Friday all year long.
